Release notes

0.16.5 · Calls, pings & community

Direct friend calls create private encrypted rooms. Send a ping, resize your DM panel and manage link previews inline. Submit feedback through the help form; administrators review it in the redesigned inbox. New Apollo story artwork follows your pointer. Updated brand favicons. Customize your speaking-ring color; everyone sees it, including after reconnecting.

0.16.4 · Meet voxx.app

Walki Talkie is now voxx.app. New bright orange identity and white radio logo. Website, Windows app, voice and TURN connections use voxx.app. Existing profile keys, room invitations and signed automatic updates remain compatible.

0.16.3 · Links, private history and mobile improvements

Image previews and clickable links in encrypted room and friend chats. Private messages expire after 24 hours unless you enable your own saved history; your friend’s setting stays independent. Up to 100 messages per conversation, loaded only when opened. English administrator console and mobile dialogs improved for small screens and keyboard resizing.

0.16.2 · Messages and invitations that reach your friends

Track room invitations from sent to delivered to joined. End-to-end encrypted private messages between friends, loaded when opened and limited to 100 messages / 7 days. Per-friend invitation sound controls, silent invitations while busy and repeat-invite limits. A smaller Windows installer with application features preserved.

Connect with your friends

0.16.1 · Friends one click away

See online friends in the invitation dialog or send an encrypted invite directly with + in the sidebar. Cleaner dialogs, opaque home and Discover views, a compact sidebar and faster friend status updates. Account passwords start at four characters; remember-device controls appear only at sign-in.

A private owner console now shows room reports and account metadata. Account storage remains persistent across updates. This Windows beta remains unsigned.

Open voice rooms

0.16.0 · Join from your browser

Browser sign-in, room discovery and encrypted voice rooms shared with Windows. Optional secure 30-day sign-in, device sessions and remote sign-out. Audio/video buffer measurements, fewer redundant refreshes and verified encrypted backup restoration.

0.15.6 · Safer sessions, lighter polling

Account operations stay bound to their original session. Revoked sessions cannot perform queued profile or team changes. Friend polling reuses decrypted invitations, avoids unchanged renders and isolates each device’s polling budget.

0.15.5 · Your profile. Your friends.

Signed-in players can now create a profile with a display name, portrait and bio. Added approved friend requests by username or friend code, online/away/busy/invisible status and encrypted room invitations from the friend list. Blocking, removing friends and multiple-device presence keep you in control.

Friend features require account sign-in. Guest voice rooms remain available. This beta installer remains unsigned.

0.15.4 · Reliable updates and invitations

The updater now confirms that the Windows helper is ready before closing the app. Updates are checked automatically at launch. Short invitation links correctly prefill the join dialog, with separate code/link copy actions. Room passwords no longer require 12 characters. Room management moves to the home icon beside chat.

The beta installer remains unsigned. Older apps with a broken updater need a one-time manual installation of this release.

0.15.3 · Smoother sharing and stronger rooms

Screen sharing adapts to available upload capacity while reserving bandwidth for voice. Secure key distribution now covers rooms of up to 100 members. Brief API reloads have bounded retries, and the Windows installer adds Russian. This beta installer is unsigned; Windows may show an unknown publisher warning.

0.15.2 · Share together, choose your stream

Up to 8 simultaneous screen publishers. Each viewer receives only the selected stream; unwatched sources pause. Room invitation moved to the sidebar, chat launchers hide while chat is open, and account settings no longer contain microphone controls.

0.15.1 · More portraits and faster stream response

The character library now contains 500 individually reviewed portraits. Screen sharing responds sooner when a viewer starts watching and resumes its sender before quality adjustments. Network distance and device encoding still affect total delay.

0.14.6 · Character portraits

34 character avatars now use new portraits. The sound icon beside the room name has been removed. Saved avatar choices and the 300-character catalogue are preserved.

0.14.5 · Live sharing & room polish

Video-only load protection, low-buffer playback and bounded stale-stream recovery. Room audio repair, smaller solo cards and invitation slots, collapsed chat, segmented views, shorter web invitations, host rename and privacy controls, reliable native paste and equal window controls. Optional processing loads on demand. Screen FPS is a target, not a guarantee.

0.14.4 · Development preview

Independent 30/60/120 FPS and resolution controls; idle sharing reduces capture buffers; stopped/hidden videos release their source; bounded capture updates; bundled raster copies of vector avatars with lazy fallback. This local preview is not published to downloads or automatic updates.

0.14.3 · Development preview

Refined account actions, equal-height voice controls with screen sharing in the dock, single-language screen selection and errors, and optional 1080p 60/120 FPS targets. Actual frame rate depends on the source, hardware and network. This preview has not been published to downloads or automatic updates.

0.14.2 · Public beta

Additional locally bundled character artwork. A compact saved-team empty state and a cleaner home screen without the quick-setup banner. All 300 avatar choices and series filters remain available; initials remain the default. Portraits are stored in two responsive sizes and loaded on demand.

0.14.1 · Public beta

Adaptive voice recovery, role-controlled persistent team channels, four demand-aware screen profiles, adjustable optional overlay, favorite voice presets, accessibility preferences, refined account and settings panels, and 300 character avatar choices. Guest access and initials remain the default. Voice effects and overlays are opt-in.

0.14.0 · Interface & portraits preview

Refined account flow, aligned switches, a smoothly expanding optional voice changer, hidden saved-team scrollbars and a 300-character avatar catalogue with new series filters and locally bundled responsive portraits. Initials remain the default. This development snapshot is included in 0.14.1.

0.13.0 · Development preview

Adaptive audio bitrate protection, device pause/fallback policy, persistent team channel tree and roles, adjustable overlay margins/visibility, favorite and custom voice presets, original/processed comparison, accessibility preferences, quick setup and demand-aware screen sharing. This development snapshot is included in 0.14.1.

0.12.1 · Public beta

Reduced rendering and virtualized avatars, consistent dialogs and fixed focus, optional encrypted accounts/team profile sync, tactical voice groups, admission controls, encrypted screen sharing and consensual local clips. 43 optional DSP effects and 200 character avatars.

0.10.0 · In-app updates

Automatic signed release checks and verified downloads, room-aware deferral, explicit Restart and update, optional download opt-out and tray notifications.
